18th Annual Taste of the Beach

The 18th Annual Taste of the Beach will be held Sunday April 28, 2013. Sixteen great area restaurants will participate. There will also be live on-stage concerts by country rock recording artists Craig Campbell, Brett Eldredge and the Grayson Rogers Band at this year's event.
Restaurants will offer samples of their signature dishes available for purchase and compete for top Taste of the Beach Award honors in the categories of Best Appetizer, Best Desert, and four awards for Best Entrée. Gates open at 11:00 a.m. Food will be served until 6:00 p.m. Tickets will be available on site. Admission is $5 for adults and children over 12. Children under 12 are free. Food tickets will be $1.00 each, with a $5 average food serving price .
A panel of celebrity judges will award Taste of the Beach Best Taste Awards. This year's awards will be announced onstage at 4:00 p.m. Last year's winners were:
Best Appetizer - JoJo's on the Beach at the Pink Shell Resort and Marina for Calamari
Best Beef/Pork Entrée - Charley's Boat House Grill for Lean Baby Back Ribs with Hickory BBQ Sauce;
Best Chicken Dish - Chuck's Last Stop for Five Pepper Chicken Pasta
Best Fish Dish - Maria's Old Florida Beach Bar and Grille for Salmon Duval
Best Shellfish - Nauti Turtle for Parmesan Shrimp;
Best Dessert - Gulfshore Grill for Banana Monkey Bread.
Oversight and balloting for the People's Choice Award will be done by the Office of Lee County Supervisor of Elections Sharon L. Harrington.
Gator Country 101.9 and Island Food Group are sponsoring the live music stage from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
